Intervention Group "Near You" at City Council 16/11/2010
Our modern societies deny death, and yet one day the phone shuts forever. The very wording of the proposed flood rate increase of the cemetery goes back to reality.
We say that a cemetery is a reflection of the city. The cemetery of Avon is in fair condition. Even worse, Massy, the cemetery is bordered by two highways, a railroad track, it is overlooked by power lines and backed by the incineration of household waste. If you go to Menton on the Cote d'Azur stop at the seaside cemetery. It is a place of great beauty which the soul dialogue with the gods. Closer to home, you will find the Genevraye a beautiful cemetery, well maintained around an old church on a hill.
We receive many visitors to Avon. The reception, quite frankly, could be improved. On the square, they discover a deposit vaults in all winds. The keeper's house is in poor condition. An extension of the cemetery is in the works for 7 years: wall ripped open, closing unrealized become wasteland. A memorial garden was furnished with taste, but in the graveyard, they see very little landscaping, cypresses are gone.
Before increasing fares, the council should be budgeted for renovations. This is an emergency that must be addressed before the end of the mandate, it is a mark of respect for families.
